Knights Templar and the Holy Grail

George Smart joined us to discuss the most mysterious and secret brotherhood, the Knights Templar. Smart helped shed light on the Knights Templar's’ purpose, organization, secret rituals, achievements, influence, and disappearance.

Smart started the show explaining why the nights Templar was formed. It was nine men who thought there should be a group to protect the traveling pilgrims after the first Crusades. He pointed out that is what strange that the Templar's remained at 9 for nearly two years expecting to protect thousands.

Smart explained as they grew the became the "rock stars" of their time. Everyone wanted to be a Templar and they only answered to the Pope. They were a major influence of the time creating banking and more or less becoming and international corporations.

The show ended with a discussion on their downfall and persecution. Many were burned at the stake accused of crimes they didn't commit. All this was due to King Phillip IV wanting to oust the Templar's because of his deep debt to them.
