Charlie Carlson
As a tenth generation Floridian, Charlie Carlson has a special interest in the state's lost histories and folklore which he has written about in 14 books and over 300 magazine and newspaper articles. Although he is basically a historian, his curiosity for the unexplained began with his grandmother, a medium, who, according to Charlie, "could spin some pretty scary ghost stories."
In 1997 he released Strange Florida which outsold all of his history books combined. In 2004, he was a contributing writer to Weird U.S. which was followed in 2005 by his own best seller, Weird Florida. In late 2005, he released his first and only fictional novel, Ashley's Shadow, based on one of Florida's most haunted legends. In 2006, he was a contributing writer to Weird Haunting's. In 2007, he released, Strange Florida II, that includes many stories dropped from Weird Florida.
Known as Florida's Master of the Weird, Charlie Carlson has appeared on hundreds of radio and TV talk shows, including Coast-to-Coast, the History Channel and SciFi Channel, and has been heard over 2500 affiliate stations across the U.S., Canada and the UK. He has appeared in more than thirty television documentaries and in 1999, appeared in the Curse of the Blair Witch [SciFi Channel] in the role of Professor Charles Moorehouse, and later in rental videos Stix and Stones and Hunt for the Devil.
He is a former operator of circus attractions and currently hosts two presentations for sponsors, his Weird and Wacky Stage Show and a tented traveling show of oddities and illusions, presented in the nostalgic style of P.T. Barnum. It is no longer a best kept secret that Charlie Carlson professes to be a reincarnation of P.T. Barnum.
